A 2nd and a 4th Grade Teacher are needed beginning in September 2016 at the Sunny Wolf Charter School in beautiful, rural Wolf Creek, OR. Our K-5 school was designated as a Model School by the State of Oregon. The Level Five rating we received puts us in the top 5% of the State. Sunny Wolf Charter School stresses academic excellence coupled with engaged learning. We include Art, PE, and Computers in our curriculum of Math, Language Arts, Reading, History, and Science. In addition, we perform Community Service, with the older students helping out at the local Senior Center twice a week. Sunny Wolf Charter School offers Science and Place Based Learning and we use our nearby creek as a classroom for Science studies. We also partner with the local library for students to visit once a week. Sunny Wolf Charter School has a school garden and the students plant and take care of it as part of their studies. Fresh vegetables are then used as part of school lunches. We have a cook on staff who provides nutritious meals and fresh snacks in accordance with USDA guidelines.
For our curriculum, we use Singapore Math, Scholastic Guided Reading, Houghton Mifflin Spelling and Vocabulary, FOSS and Delta Science Kits for hands on Science, Oregon State and Houghton Mifflin materials for Social Studies, and Zaner-Bloser for Handwriting. We are currently investigating a Music Program. Sunny Wolf Charter School follows the new Common Core Standards in all subject areas.
Next year we will have 5 classrooms (K/1, 2, 3, 4, 5) as well as a Title 1 classroom.
The school week is Monday-Thursday, and every class has a full day assistant. Class sizes are small.
Pay range is $40,000.-50,000. The school participates in PERS and pays 18% towards PERS, while the employee contributes 6%.
